Walking to Publix

There is a problem with the way Sarasota is laid out. I thought Florida was flat but it's really full of small hills. You never notice it until you actually take a long walk. At the bottom of the hill you start to see more and more grates and water run-offs. It really is interesting. I would guess that the geography is like this because it's close to the water, but in Miami there is no hills or height change by the water. I guess it's just interesting.

Another trip to the beach.

I went again to the beach without knowing this time. I was ushered into a car by a friend and led out to the crashing waves. The beach looks much different when you look at it during the day. For one thing I guess you can actually see the water color. It's pretty green more than blue but I'd expect that living anywhere within 30 miles of the Bayou. When I visited Jamaica last summer I visited the beach and I really thought that the water was like a pool. You could see straight to the bottom for miles. I think it's because it's not as industrial and the run off isn't as rampant.

The house of Stuff

In the house of stuff there is actually much more to be found relating to my way of life in the future than I thought. The whole talk of designing your home to be energy efficient and seeing it be what it is is very interesting to me. In trying to change a way of life to be more eco friendly and such I would suggest we put a law on attacking animals that are not attacking us. That will be fantastic for the environment.
Anyways the eco house was uber nice. I really liked what the whole place was about and the feeling of it.

Night Visit

I visited the Beach again this weekend. I only go to the beach at night and haven't been there during the day for a couple months now. If I could and had time to I may go during the day once with one of my friends but I doubt that would do my grades any good. I don't remember if I mentioned the light pollution that the city gives off but it is enormous but for our beaches I don't think it is really a problem. I really would like to see different light bulbs used that aren't as bright though. It really has gotten to a disgusting point at which it is more like we are trying to simulate daytime instead of light up the night in cities.

Just being outside

I haven't gotten out that much compared to some of the other weeks, but last Sunday I was feeling especially terrible. I was in the labs for hours upon hours and I had nothing else to do other than work. When I was on my way back after a meeting with my Focus club I stopped for about 15 to 20 minutes just observing the trees blowing in the spring breeze. I assumed it was spring although truly I never actually kept track of those types of things. The way these root like things came down from the trees was truly enticing. I had never really took time to observe what was truly going on with the environment. The leaves didn't waver very much but the long beards were very interesting.

A park trip

The class had an overly interesting trip to the park the other day. Ms. hall was very observant and taught us all about things that was happening that I and most of my classmates wouldn't have known otherwise. Much of what she said was a blur but the part that I remember the best was the part where she explained the plants being on the roofs of houses. I don't really see why a shade can't be put over the top to shield the plants from the sun but I wasn't thinking of that at the time. The whole thing made me very interested in that type of environment where plants are on top of every building in residential areas. I would love if you could walk through small gardens on your roof although it does sound a little weird now that I think about it. I have never been to that are around the docks in Sarasota. The scenery is very nice and it smells a whole lot better than I thought it would. I wish I had a good camera that could take pictures at night so that my photos would come out clearer, but I guess I just... I just...

I just want everything to go according to plan. I should be visiting this new place another time. So many great places I don't have time for.

A trip to the beach

On Friday a club I take part in regularly went to the beach. I use to go to the beach during the day. But ever since coming to college I've only went at night time. This last time I escaped from the group to walk along the beach and observe the feeling. I noticed how much light pollution was in the air from the city being so close but I didn't think that you would be able to literally see a gradient in the sky going from the pitch black of the ocean to the bright light of the city. I guess that's what humans do. They build and build and make things bigger and bigger, never able to be satisfied.
